Wordle & Other Puzzles
“When you have eliminated all which is impossible, then whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.”
Arthur Conan Doyle, The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes
My method for solving Wordle puzzles as described by Sir Arthur
Conan Doyle. Just for my own amusement I wrote an excel program to
help me solve Wordle and other word puzzles. Click
to download a copy. NB double clicking in the green 'link' boxes
opens a web page with a puzzle to solve on.
How To Use ~
- Enter any letters that have been excluded in the 'Invalid Positions' text box.
- Enter the column number(s) if the letter cannot appear in that column. (not required if step 3 is true).
- Tick the 'Valid Position' box if the letter appears in that column.
- Enter the letters in the boxes for each guess. Use * if you want to use a wildcard.
- Click the 'Search' button to find available words.
- A list box will appear for available words matching the criteria.
Entering these four words should give enough information to solve any Wordle with just 2 remaining guesses.
